Abstract

Walter Felsenstein is a preeminent director in the history of German opera and is renown for his dis-tinctive theatre aesthetics and groundbreaking innovations.Emphasizing retheatralisierung(retheatreisation),he seeks to create echte theaterlebnis(theatrical experience)and pioneers the concept of realistischesmusikthe-ater(realistic music theatre).His unique approach to opera directing is considered a pivotal contribution to the field.Felsenstein's influence extends beyond his era,continuing to shape contemporary opera directing and pro-duction styles,injecting new ideas and vigour into the German operatic tradition.
