Journey to the West is an immensely significant work in the annals of Chinese literature. Therefore,it is of great significance to delve into the overseas acceptance of its English renditions. From the perspective of translational communication studies, this research harnesses Python data processing technology to extract and analyze readers'comments from Amazon and Goodreads on the three English renditions of Journey to the West:Arthur Waley's separate translation,Anthony C.Yu's and W.J.F.Jenner's complete translations.By constructing a small corpus of readers'comments, this study investigates overseas readers'acceptance of the three translations of Journey to the West across four dimensions:content, translation, value and effect.Utilizing both quantitative analysis and qualitative research methods, the study reveals that overseas readers are generally satisfied with the English renditions of the novel, acknowledging the positive acceptance it has garnered. However, certain criticisms have surfaced concerning the binding design and the quality of the translations. In light of the others'voices,it is imperative to address crucial issues in translation and communication, while prioritizing effective channels and acceptance, with the ultimate objective of fostering cross-cultural exchange and facilitating the global dissemination of Chinese cultural classics.
