Chinese Derivative Word Formation Under the Co-variation of Lexicology and Morphology
The formation of derived words from the Lao(老)ethnic group has gone through the grammaticalization,lexicalization,and morphologization of"老X",and the formation of derived words is a product of the long-term interaction of semantic and lexical factors.The affixes Lao(老)originated in the Six Dynasties(六朝)period and can be divided into four categories:nouns,adjectives,adverbs,and ordinal parts of speech.Nouns appeared in the Western Han(西汉)Dynasty,adjectives and adverbs appeared in the Six Dynasties(六朝),and ordinal parts of speech appeared in the Qing(清)Dynasty.From the perspective of lexical history,its attributes are not redundancy,nor are they simple morphological markers.Affix meanings can be classified into 8 categories based on semantic retention.
