Phonetic System Studies on New-found Yasuton Yin(雅俗通音)Manuscript
Yasuton Yin(雅俗通音)is a newly discovered dialectal rhyming book of Zhangzhou(漳州)region.We summarize that there are 18 vowels,86 rhymes and 7 tones in YasutonYin(雅俗通音).The vowels and tones of Yasuton Yin(雅俗通音)and Huiji Yasuton Shiwuyin(汇集雅俗通十五音)are basically the same,while the rhymes are two letters and three rhymes less than those of Huiji Yasuton Shiwuyin(汇集雅俗通十五音),namely mi(糜)[u(e)i/u(e)iʔ]and niu(牛)[ĩu],but four rhymes more than those of Huiji Yasuton Shiwuyin(汇集雅俗通十五音),namely yao(爻)[ãuʔ],jing(惊)[iãʔ],guang(光)[uĩʔ],and mu(厶)[mʔ].The dialects of Yasuton Yin(雅俗通音)are based on the dialectal system of Zhangpu(漳浦)County,Zhangzhou(漳州)Prefecture,in the late Qing(清)Dynasty.
