The Pronunciation Types and Diachronic Evolution of Han(寒)and Huan(桓)Rhymes in Modern Mandarins
Based on the analysis of historical documents and modem dialects,the pronunciation of Han(寒)and Huan(桓)rhymes in modern Mandarins can be divided into two types:dividing type and merging type.The dividing type used to be a common phonetic change in Mandarins and it can be divided into three subtypes in modem dialects.There is an obvious sequence relationship between one of them and the merging type,because they are the mainstream features of Chinese common phonetic system in different historical periods.
