The Tone-category Recovery and Phonetic Substitution of Neutral Tone Sandhi of Baoding(保定)Dialect
This paper comprehensively describes the sandhi of neutral tone in Baoding(保定)dialect,analyzes the tone-category recovery of the syllable preceding the neutralized one in distinguishing the different sources in medieval times.Particularly,we focus on the phenomenon of distinguishing aphonic qu-sheng(去声)from sonant qu-sheng(去声).It is found that the sandhi of neutral tone in Baoding dialect has demonstrated a case of phonetic tonal substitution.
