Deng-ge was an important part of court refined music, which means to sing in the hall and, through the orientation of performing space, embodies the"voice of noble people."This is reflected in the rituals of Western Zhou Dynasty, such as the big sacrifice, the big dinner, the village drinking ceremony and so on.After Han and Wei Dynasties, with the establishment and development of the Five Rites System,Deng-ge gradually became a performance type with specific combination of musical instruments and singing, which was different from ritual music rules. It was widely used in major rituals during Tang and Song Dynasties.According to historical records,deng-ge in Sui Dynasty absorbed the achievements of the transformation of rites and music in Wei,Jin and Southern and Northern Dynasties, and laid a basic outline for the development of deng-ge in Tang and Song Dynasties in the composition and application system of musical instruments.
