Correlation Analysis Between Triglyceride-Glucose Index and the Severity of Acute Pancreatitis
Objective To analyze the correlation between triglyceride-glucose(TyG)index and the severity of acute pan-creatitis(AP).Methods A total of 534 AP patients admitted to Suizhou central hospital,Hubei University of Medicine from January 2021 to August 2023 were selected. They were divided into a severe acute pancreatitis(SAP,99 cases)group, and a non-severe acute pancreatitis(NSAP,435 cases)group according to the severity.General clinical data and laboratory indices were compared between the two groups.Independent risk factors for the severity of AP were identified u-sing binary logistic regression, and the predictive accuracy and reliability for SAP were assessed with receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve. The predictive value of the TyG index for SAP was explored across different etiologies.Re-sults Independent risk factors for SAP included age, prothrombin time(PT),and TyG index, and male was a protective factor against SAP.Age,PT,and TyG index each and their combination had diagnostic value for SAP,with their respective areas under the curve(AUC)of 0.601[95%CI(0.537,0.665),P=0.002],0.62[95%CI(0.559,0.681),P<0·001],0.747[95%CI(0.699,0.795),P<0.001],and 0·829[95%CI(0.782,0.876),P<0.001].The AUC of the TyG index for predicting SAP in biliary, hyperlipidemic, and other etiologies of AP was 0.890[95%CI(0.821,0·959),P<0.001],0.766[95%CI(0.626,0.906),P<0.001],and 0.802[95%CI(0.737,0.867),P<0.001],respectively.Conclusion The TyG index is positively correlated with the severity of AP,and the combination of age,PT,and TyG index can improve the accuracy of predicting the severity of AP.The TyG index demonstrates predictive value for SAP across dif-ferent etiologic groups of AP,but with variations.
