Spatial Distribution of the Main Metabolites in Radix Scutellariae Slices Based on Mass Spectrometry Imaging
Objective To investigate the spatial distribution of the main metabolites in Radix Scutellariae slices. Methods An atmospheric pressure mass spectrometry imaging was constructed based on laser desorption ionization,to analyze the the main metabolites in Radix Scutellariae slices. Results Anthraquinone products had similar distribution, with the majority being concentrated in the root epidermis and some in the edge of the vascular column.Additionally, baicalin, the main ac-tive ingredient of Radix Scutellariae, was found to be distributed throughout the entire section. Conclusion This study dem-onstrates that mass spectrometry imaging can be used to analyze the spatial distribution of endogenous molecules in Chinese medicine slices, which provides a new research tool for the cultivation and processing of these medicines.
