Clinical Effect of Intralesional Injection of 5-Fluorouracil in the Treatment of Plantar Warts
Objective To observe the clinical effect of intralesional injection of 5-fluorouracil in the treatment of plantar warts. Methods A total of 140 patients with plantar warts admitted to the Department of Dermatology of a tertiary hospital from December 2019 to December 2022 were selected and divided into an intralesional injection group(injection group,70 cases)and an external application group(external application group,70 cases)according to the treatment plan.A retro-spective analysis was conducted on the clinical treatment effect of plantar warts during the treatment period(6 weeks)and the skin lesion condition 12 weeks after treatment between the two groups.Differences in the recurrence of plantar warts and scar left were observed. Results During the treatment, the pain effect score of the injection group was lower than that of the external application group(P<0.05),and the degree of pain was significantly reduced compared with the condition before treatment. After treatment, the total effective rate of the injection group was 98.6%,higher than the 75.7%of the external application group(P<0.05).There was a distinct difference in the area of skin lesions between the two groups after 3 weeks of treatment. The injection group had fewer skin lesions left and the improvement was earlier observed than that in the exter-nal application group. After 12 weeks of treatment, the total recurrence rate in the injection group was 1.4%,lower than the 22.9%in the external application group(P<0.05).No differences were found between the two groups in scar left and the incidence of adverse reactions(P>0.05).Conclusion In the treatment of plantar warts, intralesional injection of 5-flu-orouracil was superior to external application in evaluating patient pain, treatment efficacy, lesion area per unit time, and recurrence.,which is of certain significance for clinical promotion. The two methods demonstrate no significant differences in the evaluation of scar left and adverse drug reactions during the treatment of plantar warts, with acceptable safety.
