Digital media technology is the substrate technical framework of practical innova-tion of ideological and political education.The emergence of Metaverse and its functional at-tributes such as full sensory immersion and embodied interaction have again aroused the practical concern of ideological and political education.In essence,the metaverse changes the space-time field of human existence,reshapes human practice and thinking mode by relying on virtual space and the"substantiation"of data,and promotes the"virtualization"of ideo-logical and political education.However,it also brings risks of ideological and political edu-cation alienation,such as virtual survival experience obscuring the practical needs of educa-tion,the"substantiation"of digital subjects causing educational concerns to be misaligned,and the reliance on media for ideological construction and practice.Therefore,the moderni-zation of ideological and political education calls for clarifying the boundary of the virtual ex-pansion of ideological and political education in the perspective of the metaverse,following such categories as"virtuality-reality"and"technology-value"and holding the position of"real man"and"practice".
