Time-delay effect of small drug molecules transporting across phospholipid bilayer membrane
In this paper, based on the diffusion kinetics,a new theoretical model for the transport of small drug molecules across the phospholipid bilayer membrane is established to analyze the dynamic process of the transport of small drug molecules across the phospholipid bilayer membrane.Especially, time delay effects in the trans-membrane transport process of drug molecules are investigated. We found that the small drug molecules crossed the various regions of the phospholipid bilayer membrane and entered the cell within a few minutes. When the number of small drug molecules increases to a certain level, tiny pores will appear in the phospholipid molecule layer, allowing the accumulated drug molecules to pass through quickly.By analyzing the sensitivity of each pa-rameter in the model,we also found that the diffusion characteristics of drug molecules in different regions of the phospholipid bilayer membrane and the time delay of the transport process will affect the kinetics of small drug molecules crossing the phospholipid bilayer membrane. Our theoretical results are consistent with simulation and experimental observations, which further reveals the transmembrane properties of small drug molecules across phospholipid bilayer membranes and can provide necessary references and new solutions for the design of exact therapeutic drugs.
