Correlation between classical Hodgkin lymphoma and Epstein Barr virus infection in Xinjiang
Objective To explore the correlation between classic Hodgkin's lymphoma(CHL)and Epstein-Barr(EB)virus infection in Xinjiang region, and to analyze the clinical pathological characteristics and prognosis of EB virus infection and CHL.Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on patients with CHL who had detailed clinical and pathological data from January 2010 to April 2023 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University.HE and immunohistochemical staining sections were reviewed to verify diagnosis and classification. Results EBER detection showed that the positive rate of CHL in 292 cases was 43.8%(128/292),including 48.6%(89/183)for nodular sclerosis type,36.3%(37/102)for mixed cell type,33.3%(2/6)for lymphocyte depletion type, and no lymphocyte rich type; The infection rate of EB virus in Han Chinese was 42.7%(41/96),while in ethnic minorities it was 54.1%(106/196).The EB virus infection rate of nodular sclerosis type was the highest among ethnic minorities, with 65 cases(55.1%);The 5-year progression free survival rate of EBER positive patients was 90.3%,slightly lower than that of negative patients(95.3%).Conclusion The infection rate of EB virus is relatively high among CHL ethnic minorities in Xinjiang, especially those with nodular selerosis type.
