Growth and metastasis of gastric cancer promoted by EFEMP1 through the tumor microenvironment
Objectives To analyze the expression and significance of EFEMP1 in gastric cancer tissues based on bioinformatics. Methods CIBERSORT and ESTIMATE methods were used to calculate ImmuneScore,StormalScore and ESTIMATEScore in 374 gastric cancer patients from the GEO gastric cancer dataset.Protein interaction network(PPI)was constructed to find core genes related to prognosis, and the expression of core genes was verified by TCGA gastric cancer database and immunohistochemical staining. Results The expression of EFEMP1 was similar between normal tissues and tumor tissues in GEO and TCGA databases, and was associated with the survival time and clinical stage of gastric cancer(T and Stage).GSEA showed that EFEMP1 was mainly enriched in calcium signaling pathway, cell adhesion and extracellular matrix receptor interaction pathways.EFEMP1 expression was significantly correlated with ITGB1 expression in tumor size, histological grade, and TNM stage(P<0.05).Conclusion EFEMP1 may play a synergistic role with ITBG1 in the invasion and metastasis of gastric cancer.
