Study of the Baojia System and Immigration Management in Yunnan during the Qing Dynasty
In the early Qing Dynasty,the Baojia system in Yunnan was mainly implemented in the hinterland and the newly abrogated chieftain areas,and in the middle of the Qing Dynasty,it was extended to the areas bordering Myanmar in southwest Yunnan,and then expanded to the mountainous areas with reclamation immigrants.The features of each stage of the Baojia System in Yunnan are closely related to social problems at different periods.The unemployed vagrants who were found out were not included in the Baojia system of the areas concerned,so that the unemployed vagrants became one source of chaos in the late Qing Dynasty.The different policies to the migrants in the Baojia system had affected immigration status.
