From Zhou People to Chinese People:On the Evolution of the Sense of Community for Chinese Nation in the Pre-Qin Period
The process from Zhou People to Chinese People embodies an important evolving process for the evolution of the sense of community for Chinese nation in the pre-Qin period.The Western Zhou provided a state form for the development of community for Chinese nation,and Zhou People was a representative of such a sense of community.Chunqiu(春秋)was a period evolving from Western Zhou's national political community to the Huaxia(华夏)cultural community,and Zhuxia(诸夏)was an embodiment of such a sense of community.The Western Zhou national community was reserved in Chunqiu Period,and the term China was generalized to be a national concept close to that of the Zhou Dynasty;The culture of"Hua"conceived and grew among Zhuxia,forming a cultural group symbolized by the"Hua"culture,and this group developed and expanded rapidly.In the Zhanguo(战国)Period,the Huaxia cultural community finally came into being.The Chinese people became a representative of such a sense of community.The word China became a geographical concept with cultural and ethnic attributes.
