The Preliminary Study on the Suitability and Sustainable Utilization of Different Pastures Inter-planted in the Young Orchard on the Slope Land of Latored Soils
Four kind of pastures were selected from six kind of pastures tested and showed that the four pastures are suitable for inter-planting in the young orchard on the slope lands of latored soil. Owing to the high biomass and productivity of pastures, how to use these pastures is a problem to be solved. Therefore, the sustainable utilization of the pastures were also studied and tested in three treatments or ways: (1) covering the surface of vegetable farmlands with the cut pastures; (2) covering the land surface around the litchi trees with the cut pastures in the young orchard; (3) burying the cut pastures into soil around the litchi trees in the young orchard. The results showed that the three treatments can obviously increase the land coverage and soil water capacity, decrease water loss and soil erosion, and improve soil fertility and land productivity, consequently accelerate the growth of the fruit trees. These ways are good examples to deeply use the cut pastures.
