Study on Biomass of Leymus chinensis Community after Different Improving Measures
The seasonal dynamics of community after different improving measures (seeding Leymus chinensis, shallow ploughing, fencing) on degenerated Steppe of Leymus chinensi were studied in 1983 to find out an approach to restore degraded grassland. The results indicated that the seasonal dynamics of aboveground biomass was a curve with single apex, and the forms of the curve were similar under different treatments; all three measures showed remarkable effects on increasing yield, and the community biomass after fencing, shallow ploughing, seeding Leymus chinensis was increased by 102.69%, 130.5%, 107.1% compared with the control respectively; the dry matter content obviously changed with seasons and was higher at the initial and later stages; there were negative correlation between dry matter content and soil moisture content.
