Effects of Overseeding Grass on Aboveground Biomass of Different Economic Group in Maqu Alpine Desertified Meadow Pasture
The effects of overseeding on aboveground biomass of different economic group in Maqu alpine desertified meadow were studied from 2006 to 2007. The results showed that overseeding grass can increase vegetation height and coverage. Aboveground biomass of sedges decreased and grasses biomass increased in 2006. In 2007 aboveground biomass of all economic groups increased and grasses biomass increased significantly, which accounted for about 50% of the total aboveground biomass. Grasses and legumes in mixed sowing grassland of Festuca sinensis, Poa pratensis and Elymus natans (ZCP) were higher by 34. 56% and 96. 37% than control respectively, which was a better overseeding treatment for Maqu alpine desertified grassland. It showed that overseeding was the effective management measure for alpine desertified meadow, which had positive effect on increasing vegetation height, coverage and aboveground biomass.
