Forage Characteristics and Application Perspective of Triticale in Grassland Ecology
Triticale (Xtriticosecale Wittmack) is the first intergenetic variety crossed by the female parent wheat (Triticum ssp) and the male parent rye (Secale ssp). Triticale is generally characterized by excellent resistance to drought, cold and disease, high protein, high amino acid content and high biomass. Therefore triticale is currently applied in food, forage and industry. The advances in triticale breeding, productivity, environment and economic benefit improvement, and resistance mechanism research were summarized to provide basis for the improvement of forage characteristics and utilization in ecological construction.
