Study on the Allelopathic Effects of Extracs from the Roots of Euphorbia jolkinii on Three High Quality Forages
In order to screen for high quality forage cultivar remediation of the degraded grassland of Euphorbia jolkinii in northwest Yunnan, three kinds of forage grasses adapted to high altitude climate con-ditions,perennial ryegrass, white clover and Arundinella hookeri, were used as receptor materials. The allelopathic effects of Euphorbia jolkinii root extract on the three forage grasses were studied by the method of petri dish filter paper and the method of pit culture. The results showed that Euphorbia jolkinii had varying degrees of allelopathic inhibition on seed germination, seedling growth and photosynthesis of the three forages. The inhibition of seed germination and seedling photosynthetic capacity was Arundinella hookeri>perennial ryegrass>white clover, and the inhibition of seedling growth was Arundinella hookeri>white clover>perennial ryegrass. In general, white clover and perennial ryegrass exhibited stronger allelo-pathic effects and were more suitable for the remediation of the degraded grassland of Euphorbia jolkinii in the northwest alpine region of Yunnan. It is suggested to use the two together in production to achieve opti-mal results.
