Urban Residents'Willingness to Pay for Grassland Ecological Compensation in Inner Mongolia:Exploring Influencing Factors
This study investigates the willingness to pay(WTP)for grassland ecological compensation among urban residents in Inner Mongolia,a region with significant grassland ecosystems.Including urban residents as beneficiaries the compensation framework holds promise for promoting market-oriented and diversified grassland ecological compensation mechanism.A survey of 339 urban residents across 12 Inner Mongolian cities was conducted to estimated WTP using the contingent valuation method(CVM).Univari-ate and multivariate Logistic regression models were employed to analyze factors influencing residents'pay-ment intentions towards ecological protection compensation. The results showed that 79.06%of urban residents expressed a willingness to pay for grassland ecological compensation. The estimated annual indi-vidual WTP ranged from 107.46 to 135.92 yuan per year, translating to an average WTP of 27.30 to 34.50 yuan per hectare per year. The most significant factors affecting WTP,in order of decreasing impor-tance,were perceived importance of grassland ecological protection, average monthly household income, education level, and family residence.
