Effect of Film Covering on the Production of Silage Corn in Bashang,Hebei Province
In order to investigate the effects of different planting patterns on the growth traits of silage corn in Bashang area of northwest Hebei Province, three planting patterns were designed:planted on the inner side of ridge covered film(IS-RCF),planted on the outer side of ridge covered film(OS-RCF),and planted without film mulching(CK).The growth performance of two silage corn varieties(Demeiya 1 and Fangyu 1201)under three planting patterns was determined. The results showed that the growth period,bio-mass yield, starch, dry matter content, and water use efficiency of the IS-RCF planting mode were better than the other two planting modes.Compared with the CK mode, the growth period of IS-RCF planting mode was 7-10 days advanced. The hay yield of Demeiya 1 and Fangyu 1201 exceeded 54 t/hm2,which was significantly higher than the other two planting modes(P<0.05).The leaf area and chlorophyll content at heading stage were significantly higher under IS-RCF compared to the other two modes. Two varieties of maize has more than 34%dry matter content and more than 33%starch content under IS-RCF,which was significantly higher than the other two modes(P<0.05).The daily average temperature and water content of 0-40 cm soil in the growth period reached 18.77℃ and 13.44%,which had the best effect on ensuring the yield and quality of silage corn in Bashang.Compared to the other two planting modes,IS-RCF increased the water use efficiency of aboveground biomass of Demeiya 1 and Fangyu 1201 to 178.61 kg/(hm2·mm)and 172.93 kg/(hm2·mm),respectively.The results demonstrated that the IS-RCF planting pattern in Bashang area was the most effective when combining with short-growth-period silage corn cultivars. It played an important role in improving the yield and quality of Bashang silage corn and ensuring the quality requirements of Bashang silage corn in the harvest period.
