Study on removing bitterness and safety evaluation of Trichosanthes bracteata(Lam.)root
Objective The bitterness removal method and the safety of the purified powder were studied,so as to provide a basis for the development and utilization of Trichosanthes bracteata(Lam.)root.Methods The bitter taste of the powder was removed by acid-water washing.The maximum tolerance test and toxicity of refined powder were studied.Results The refined powder was light in taste and hardly bitter in taste.The MTD of refined powder was>2.0 g/kg.After continuous 28 days of intragastric administration and 14 days after withdrawal,there were no significant differences in body weight,blood routine,blood biochemical indexes and organ coefficients between the high-dose,medium-dose and low-dose groups and the normal control group.Conclusion The refined root powder of Trichosanthes bracteata(Lam.)root was white,light,safe and had potential development value.
