A case of severe hyponatremia induced by oxytocin injection
Objective To promote the rational use of the oxytocin.Methods A case of severe hyponatremia induced by oxytocin injection was analyzed,and the mechanism and clinical characteristics of severe hyponatremia induced by oxytocin injection were further discussed in combination with the literature.Results Severe hyponatremia and delirium occurred after 4 days of continuous intravenous use of oxytocin injection,which may be related to the mechanism of oxytocin action,the patient's eating less,and the accumulation of medication dose.Conclusion The hyponatremia induced by oxytocin is a rare adverse reaction,but may induce serious outcome.Medical workers should strengthen the understanding for adverse drug reactions induced by oxytocin injection,enhance safety awareness,pay more attention and take appropriate preventive and therapeutic measures to ensure the safety of patients.
