Study on hepatic and spleen toxicity of alkaloids in different processed products of Farfare flos
Objective To preliminary study hepatic and spleen toxicity of alkaloids in different processed products of Farfare flos. Methods Kunming mice were given the alkaloid in intragastric administration of Farfare flos from raw product, honeyfried processed product, liquorice processed product, liquorice and honeyfried co-production processed product, refined hone by licorice water processed product for successive 8 day. Then measuring body weight changes, calculating levels of liver index, measure the albumin(ALB),total bile acid(TBA),alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alkaline phosphatase(ALP)and taking the liver and spleen of the mice for histopathological examination. Results Compared with the blank group, the liver index of the raw product group increased significantly;compared with the raw product group, mice in each processed product group showed a slight increase in body weight and a decrease in liver index.Compared with the blank group, the levels of albumin, total bile acid, and AST in the raw product group were significantly increased;compared to the raw product group, there has been a decrease in each processed product group.Pathological sections showed no significant lesions in the spleen of the mice.In the liver sections, liver cells from the raw and processed product groups showed varying degrees of fusion necrosis, indicating focal and watery changes in liver cells,as well as inflammation in the portal area. However, the degree of necrosis and fusion was relatively mild in the liquorice processing, liquorice and honeyfried co-production processing groups. Conclusion There are differences in the alkaloid content of different processed products of Farfare flos on the toxicity of mouse liver.Among them, liquorice processed, liquorice and honeyfried co-production processed Farfare flos products have lower toxicity to mouse liver and better detoxification effect.
