Clinical study of obese polycystic ovary syndrome treated by metformin combined with acupuncture stage treatment
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of metformin combined with acupuncture stage treatment of obese polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS).Methods 90 obese patients with PCOS were randomly divided into the study group, the control group 1 and the control group 2,with 30 cases in each group. The study group was treated by oral metformin combined with acupuncture stage treatment, and different acupoints were selected according to different stages of the menstruation. The control group 1 was treated with oral metformin alone. The control group 2 was combined with fixed acupoints therapy and metformin. Each group was treated for three menstrual cycles,to observe the change of clinical symptoms, signs and laboratory indicators. Results The total effective rates of the study group, control group 1 and control group 2 were 93.3%,60.0%and 76.7%,and the difference between them was statistically significant(P<0.001).Both acupuncture stage treatment and fixed acupoints therapy could effectively improve the menstrual cycle,BMI,waist-to-hip ratio,F%,TC and LDL-C.There was no significant difference between these two methods(P>0.05),but they were better than metformin alone(P<0.05).As for regulating sex hormones, acupuncture stage treatment was better than fixed acupoints therapy and metformin alone. There was no difference on TG levels improving among these three treatments. The study group was better than both control groups in the clinical symptom. Conclusion Acupuncture stage treatment can effectively improve the menstrual cycle of PCOS,obesity, hairy, acne and other symptoms and signs, regulate blood lipid and sex hormone levels, has certain advantages compared with other therapies.
