The effect of control measures adopted by clinical pharmacists on the rational use of traditional Chinese medicine injections in a hospital
Objective To investigate the effect of control measures adopted by clinical pharmacists on the rational use of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)injections in a hospital. Methods The ratio of the TCM injection income to the total income of main departments under monitoring and control, the therapeutic rate of patients, the sales amount ranks of the main monitored TCM injections, the ratio of the medicine income to the total income of the hospital, the TCM injection expense per person, the irrational use rate of TCM injections were compared and analyzed before(January 2020 to December 2020)and after(January 2021 to December 2021)the intervention in a hospital. Results After the intervention by clinical pharmacists, the average ratio of the TCM injection income to the total income of main departments under monitoring and control was(1.68±1.37)%lower than that before the intervention, and the difference was significant(P<0.01).The therapeutic rate of patients did not decrease but improved significantly after the intervention(P<0.01).The irrational use rate of TCM injections of the hospital significantly decreased to 29.00%after the intervention from 48.50%before the intervention(P<0.01).In addition, the sales amount ranks of the main monitored TCM injections, the ratio of the medicine income to the total income of the hospital, and the TCM injection expense per person were significantly reduced after the intervention. Conclusion The intervention measures adopted by clinical pharmacists can effectively promote the rational use of TCM injections in medical institutions, lighten the medication burden on patients without increasing the risk of treatment failure, and play a positive role in standardizing the rational use of TCM injections in the hospital.
