Analysis of the rationality of the use of omeprazole enteric-coated formulation in 731 outpatient pediatric patients
Objective To investigate and analyze the use of omeprazole enteric-coated formulation in hospital pediatric outpatient clinics,and to provide evidence support for the comprehensive clinical evaluation of drugs.Methods The prescription information of omeprazole enteric-coated formulation used by pediatric outpatients in the Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou Medical University from May 1,2021 to April 30,2022 was extracted through the hospital's clinical pharmacy system,and reviewed and summarized for analysis based on relevant guidelines,consensus or FDA prescribing information.Results There were a total of 731 prescriptions for omeprazole enteric-coated in pediatric outpatient clinics,and there were 84 prescriptions for irrational use of the drug,accounting for 11.50%of the review prescriptions,mainly manifested in:prescriptions were written without a clinical diagnosis or with incomplete clinical diagnosis;the course of treatment was not standardized,the indications were inappropriate,the drug dosage form or the route of administration was inappropriate,Usage and dosage were inappropriate,and so on.Conclusion There are unreasonable phenomena in the use of omeprazole enteric-coated formulation in pediatric outpatient clinics of the hospital.Furthermore,there are issues regarding off-label use,imprecise dosing,and the lack of appropriate pediatric dosage forms for this medication that need to be addressed.
