Exploring the efficacy and safety of cefazoxime in treating neonatal infections using HIS and CHPS systems
Objective To explore the efficacy and safety of cefazoxime in the treatment of neonatal infection,in order to provide evidence for rational use of cefazoxime in neonates. Methods A retrospective observational study was conducted to collect the data of children receiving anti-infective treatment with cefazolme in neonatology department from January 2021 to December 2021 on HIS system, and they were divided into the observation group(combined with penicillins)and the control group(not combined with penicillins)according to drug use.The Chinese hospital pharmacovigilance system(CHPS)was used to search for adverse reactions,a total of 160 children were included to evaluate the treatment efficacy and safety. Results There was no significant difference between the observation group and the control group in 72-hour anti-infective efficacy and final clinical outcome(P>0.05),but there was a statistical difference between the two groups in hospitalization days(P<0.05).Conclusion Cefazoxime is effective in the treatment of common infections in newborns, but the empirical use of cefazoxime combined with penicillin has little advantage over cefazoxime alone in anti-infection treatment, but extends the average length of hospital stay.Clinicians should be cautious with combined use of cefazoxime.
