Pharmaceutical care of phantom limb pain after hemipelvic amputation for osteosarcoma
Objective To explore the role of clinical pharmacists in the pharmaceutical care of patients with phantom limb pain.Methods Clinical pharmacists participated in the treatment of phantom limb pain after hemipelvic amputation in a patient with osteosarcoma,combined with relevant guidelines and literature,evaluated the suspected drugs that caused urinary retention during the treatment,and proposed a corresponding optimized treatment plan.Results Clinical pharmacists determined that venlafaxine was likely to cause urinary retention,and provided an adjusted medication regimen.After the adjustment,the patient's urinary retention gradually eased and disappeared,and the phantom limb pain was effectively controlled.Conclusion The involvement of clinical pharmacists participate in the treatment of phantom limb pain can leverage pharmaceutical professional advantages,ensuring the safety and efficacy of patient medication,and accelerating patient recovery.
