Study of the efficacy of pregabalin combined with eperisone hydrochloride in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis and its effects on serum factors
Objective To assess the efficacy of pregabalin combined with eperisone hydrochloride on patients with knee osteoarthritis and its impact on serum factors. Methods From January 2020 to December 2023,64 patients with knee osteoarthritis treated at Guangxi National Hospital were selected for study objectives.Patients were randomly divided into two groups by drawing lots:the control group(32 patients)and the test group(32 patients). The control group received pregabalin treatment, and the test group(32 patients)received a combination of pregabalin and eperisone hydrochloride. The study compared the differences between the two groups in terms of treatment efficacy, osteoarthritis index[Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC)scores],knee joint mobility, pain condition[Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)scores],joint function[American Knee Society Score(AKSS)],and serum factor levels[matrix metalloproteinase-3(MMP-3),cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2),interleukin-6(IL-6)].Results After 8 weeks of treatment, the test group showed a higher overall efficacy rate than the control group(P<0.05);the test group had lower WOMAC scores and VAS scores, and greater knee joint mobility than the control group(P<0.05).The test group also had higher AKSS scores(P<0.05)and lower levels of MMP-3,COX-2,and IL-6 than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion The treatment of pregabalin combined with ephedrine hydrochloride enhances the effectiveness in patients with knee osteoarthritis, improves pain and joint mobility, and reduces inflammation markers, showing superior results compared to the monotherapy.
