Analysis of FDA-Approved Drugs from 1995 to 2016:Development Trends in Drug Therapy for Type 2 Diabetes
Objective To study the trend and law of drug development for the treatment of type 2 diabetes by analyzing and summarizing the mechanism of action and clinical application of the drugs approved by United States FDA during 1995~2016.Methods The official website of FDA,Pubmed database,Wanfang,CNKI,Baidu Academic and other databases were consulted and searched to collect,statistically analyze and summarize the new drugs approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in the United States from 1995 to 2016.According to the mechanism and target of action of drugs,comparative analysis was used to analyze the drugs for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.Results According to the classification of targets,the types of type 2 diabetes drugs approved by the FDA for marketing in the past 20 years from 1995~2016 have been constantly changing,and the research and development direction is mainly in sodium-glucose transporter 2 inhibitors.Conclusion Overall,drugs that act on receptors take the first place,followed by drugs that act on enzymes;Therefore,drugs targeting receptors are still an important trend and research direction in the research and development of drugs for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
