Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of Ginkgo biloba tablets on patients with unstable angina and their impact on fibroblast growth factor 4(FGF-4).Methods From January 2022 to September 2023,360 patients with unstable angina who received treatment in Lianyungang First People's Hospital were selected and divided into low-risk group(Gensini score 1-30,n=112),medium risk group(Gensini score 31-60,n=156),and high-risk group(Gensini score 61-90,n=92)based on Gensini score. Each group of patients were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group. The control group was treated with standard treatment plan for coronary heart disease, while the observation group was treated with Ginkgo biloba tablets in addition to the control group. After 4 weeks of treatment, the levels of FGF-4 and inflammatory factors, the frequency and duration of angina attacks, and the severity of unstable angina(Braunwald classification)were compared between the different groups. Results After treatment, the peripheral serum FGF-4 levels of patients in the low-risk observation group and the medium risk observation group were higher than their corresponding control groups(P<0.05).The high-risk observation group showed an increasing trend in FGF-4 levels compared to its control group, but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).The average levels of tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α,interleukin(IL)-2,and IL-6 in the three observation groups were lower than those in the corresponding control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the frequency and duration of angina attacks in the low-risk observation group and the medium risk observation group were lower than those in the corresponding control group(P<0.05),while there was no statistically significant difference between the high-risk observation group and its control group(P>0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the observation group and the control group after treatment(P>0.05).Conclusion Ginkgo biloba leaves extract tablets can improve the clinical efficacy and alleviate clinical symptoms in patients with unstable angina pectoris. Its mechanism may be related to its anti-inflammatory effect by increasing FGF-4 levels, thereby reducing the levels of TNF-α,IL-2,and IL-6 inflammatory factors.
