Effect of special pressure ulcer nursing team combined with gel positioning pad on preventing acute pressure injury during prolonged lateral decubitus spinal surgery
Objective To explore the effect of special pressure ulcer nursing team(SPUNT)combined with gel position pad in the prevention of acute pressure injury in patients undergoing prolonged lateral decubitus spinal surgery.Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on the clinical data of 95 patients undergoing prolonged lateral decubitus spinal surgery in Anhui Second People's Hospital between January 2021 and June 2023.Before the establishment of SPUNT(from January 2021 to March 2022),48 patients received routine nursing intervention were served as the control group.After the establishment of SPUNT(from April 2022 to June 2023),47 patients intervened received intervention of SPUNT and gel position pads were served as the study group.The degree of postoperative pain(VAS score)and comfort(GCQ score),the occurrence of acute pressure ulcer(APU),clinical situation(hospitalization time,nursing-related expenses,postoperative infection rate)and nursing satisfaction were compared between the two groups.Results At 30 min and 72 h after surgery,VAS score in study group were lower than that in control group,and GCQ scores were higher than that in control group(P＜0.01).At 72 h after surgery,total incidence of APU(8.51％vs 25.00％,x2=4.610,P=0.032)in study group were lower than that in control group(P＜0.01),while Branden score was higher than that in control group(P＜0.01).Among patients with APU,the number and area of APU injuries per person in study group were lower compared with control group(P＜0.01).After intervention,hospitalization time,protection cost,and incidence of postoperative infection in study group were lower than those in control group(P＜0.05),and nursing satisfaction was higher than that in control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion The intervention using SPUNT combined with gel position pad can significantly relieve postoperative pain,improve comfort,reduce the incidence of APU,shorten rehabilitation process,and improve nursing satisfaction in patients undergoing prolonged lateral decubitus spinal surgery.
