Current Situation of Crossbreeding and Utilization between Simmental Cattle and Local Yellow Cattle
With the development of the beef cattle industry,people's demand for beef quality has become more diverse.Although local Yellow cattle have strong resistance to adversity,tolerant to rough feeding,and good meat quality,they generally have many defects such as slow growth rate,low carcass meat production,poor fat deposition,and low cutting rate of high-quality beef.Simmental cattle belong to dairy-beef dual-purpose variety,with good meat production and growth performance,as well as good carcass yield.It is a major recommended variety in many countries around the world and is commonly used for crossbreeding and improvement of local cattle.The article summarized the improvement effects of Simmental cattle on the weight,slaughter performance,and meat quality of local Yellow cattle in China,in order to provide reference for the development of beef cattle in China.
