Effect of Diet with Different Proportions of Alfalfa Meal on the Growth Performance,Slaughter Performance, and Meat Quality in Growing Meat Rabbit
To screen the appropriate proportion of alfalfa meal added to the diet in growing meat rabbits,18 New Zea-land White rabbits with similar body weight and 40 days old were selected and randomly divided into groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,and Ⅲ(6 replicates in each group, with 1 meat rabbit in each replicate). They were fed with 29.0%,44.5%,and 51.8%al-falfa meal diet, respectively. The experiment lasted for 49 days, with a pre trial period of 7 days and a trial period of 42 days. The results showed as follows:①The experimental final weight and average daily gain of meat rabbits in groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ were significantly higher than those in group Ⅰ(P<0.05),while the ratio of feed to weight was significantly lower than that in group Ⅰ(P<0.05);② The pre-slaughter live weights of groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ were significantly higher than that of group Ⅰ(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference in half eviscerated weight, all eviscerated weight, half eviscerated rate and total eviscerated rate(P>0.05);③ There were no significant differences in pH,brightness(L*),redness(a*),and yellowing(b*)of rabbit longest dorsal muscles among three groups(P>0.05);④ The liver weight and spleen weight of groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ were significantly higher than those of group Ⅰ(P<0.05).In terms of or-gan index, the liver index of growing rabbit in groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ were significantly higher than that in group Ⅰ(P<0.05).In summary, adding 44.5%-51.8%alfalfa meal to the diet can significantly improve the average daily gain, feed effi-ciency,and liver and spleen weight of growing meat rabbits.
