Research Progress in Urban Neighborhood Green Space and Mental Health
In consideration of the scale of neighborhood, the paper retrieves the literature relevant to the research on neighborhood green space and mental health in the recent 10 years from 3 databases, including Web of Science,Pubmed and Scopus, and analyzes the methodologies and results of research based on the 51 papers that meet the criteria of selection. With the analysis, the different relationships between coverage of neighborhood space, characteristics of neighborhood green space and mental health are concluded to provide implications for the planning of neighborhood green space which is oriented to residents'mental health. For the planning, considerations should be given to the overall characteristics of green spaces in the neighborhood within 100-500 m,500-800 m,and 800-1 600 m,and attention should be paid to the construction of linear green spaces such as greenways and large recreational green spaces as well as to green space planning in areas where disadvantaged groups gather. For the planning of green spaces aiming at the stock enhancement,it is necessary to optimize the plant structure and enrich the vegetation species in neighborhood space, and the focus should be placed on the internal quality of green spaces, especially on the quality enhancement of pocket parks and street spaces. At the end, this paper points out that the future research needs to be focused on longitudinal research, comparative research on quantitative characteristics of green spaces and relationship research on green space explanatory mechanisms.
