Fractal Dimension Characteristics of Surface Soil Particles of Typical Planted Urban Forest in Shenzhen
Planted urban forest is an important component of urban green infrastructure, representing a highly integrated system of urban landscape vegetation and soil ecosystems. To investigate the linkage between the composition and structure of soil particles in planted urban forest and environmental factors like vegetation communities, the study take the surface soil from the layer of 0-10 cm deep in Shenzhen to measure the vegetation coverage as well as gravel content, bulk density, organic matter, and particle composition of the soil in the research area were measured and calculate the fractal dimension. The correlation between soil particle composition with fractal dimension and each index is analyzed. The influencing factors of soil fractal dimension are determined using MLMs,and the relationship between influencing factors and soil fractal dimension is analyzed. The results show that the soil from the green space in the study area is dominated by sand(62.09%-91.61%),followed by silt(0.97%-25.13%)and clay(0.82%-17.20%).The fractal dimension of soil varies from 2.52 to 2.76,and the soil texture is mainly sandy loam(85.82%).The fractal dimensions of soil particles in the three texture types are significantly different(P<0.01),which could be ordered from high to low as sandy clay loam(2.74)>sandy loam(2.64)>sandy soil(2.59).The fractal dimension of soil particles is positively correlated with tree canopy density, herb coverage and soil organic matter content(P<0.05),and the influence factors of different texture types had different effects on the fractal dimension of soil, among which sandy loam is consistent with the general tendency,i.e.,the fractal dimension of soil shows an upward trend with the increase of tree canopy density, herb canopy density and soil organic matter content. To sum up,the fractal dimension of surface soil of planted urban forest in Shenzhen is significantly influenced by vegetation community structure, and also closely related to soil texture and soil organic matter. The research is of great significance to guide the community configuration of planted urban forest and improve soil quality/function.
