Inheritance and Reconstruction of Blue-Green Space along Heritage Corridors of the North Canal(Langfang Section)
As an important part of the Grand Canal of China, the North Canal(Langfang Section)plays the role of connecting Beijing and Tianjin. The heritage corridor, with the blue-green space of the canal as the main line, involves multiple elements of spaces, including water conservancy, ecology, culture, water transportation and tourism. With an eye on the coordination, integration and renewal of complex spaces and with the view to ecological restoration of blue-green spaces, protection and inheritance of canal culture and development of urban and rural unique culture-based tourism, the paper comes up with a series of design strategies for the blue-green space renewal along the heritage corridors of the North Canal from the three aspects of ecological protection and scenes renewal, culture heritage and site renewal and sightseeing/leisure and function renewal, with the aim to increase and revive ecological, aesthetic, cultural, educational, tourism and recreational values of the canal's heritage corridors. At the end,the ideas about the inheritance and renewal model for the heritage corridors are proposed in the governance, design and management dimensions,i.e.,elastic management emphasizing protection and reasonable use, integration of design focusing on the professional coordination of scenes, and sustained development backed up by planning and operation. This study is expected to provide references for the inheritance and renewal of blue-green spaces along the heritage corridors.
