Land Use Change and Habitat Quality Evolution at County Level in Nanxiong Basin,Northern Guangdong Province
Nanxiong is situated in the northern ecological development zone in Guangdong Province's"one core, one belt, and one region"development pattern, and it constitutes a crucial part of the ecological barrier in Guangdong Province.Nonetheless, the unreasonable agricultural practices in history have led to a substantial amount of unused land, detrimentally impacting habitat quality. With the land use data in 2000,2005,2010,2015,and 2020,the InVEST model is used for evaluating the evolutionary attributes of habitat quality in Nanxiong City in the four time cycles(2000-2005,2005-2010,2010-2015,and 2015-2020).The rate of the contribution to habitat quality is employed to discuss the types of land use transfer that influence the changes of habitat quality. The findings reveal:1)Between 2000 and 2020,the predominant types of land use transfer in Nanxiong City were the conversion between cultivated land and forest land and the transfer from cultivated land to construction land;2)The trajectory of habitat quality in Nanxiong City presents an initial increase followed by a subsequent decline. The hills in the central area exhibit low habitat quality, whereas the high mountains in the northwest and southeast embrace the areas characterized with high habitat quality;and 3)The conversion from cultivated land to forest land is the principal driver for the amelioration of habitat quality in the study area from 2000 to 2020.Conversely,the conversions from forest land to cultivated land and from cultivated land to construction land are the primary contributors to the decline in habitat quality within the study area. Thus, harmonizing the conversions between forest and cultivated land and between cultivated land and construction land will effectively curb the decline of habitat quality in Nanxiong City.
