The Accuracy of Preoperative T Staging of Gallbladder Carcinoma by CT Was Studied
Objective To evaluate the role of multi-slice spiral CT(MDCT)and multiplanar reconstruction(MPR)in preoperative T staging of gallbladder cancer. Methods The axial images of 118 pathologically confirmed patients with gallbladder cancer at portal stage were reviewed, and the axial and MPR images of 53 cases were analyzed. The results were compared with the pathological results of McNemar test to evaluate the differential ability of MDCT for different T stages. Results The sensitivities of ≤T1 and≥T2,≤T2 and ≥T3,≤T3 and T4 were 79.3%,92.7%and 100%,and the specificities were 98.8%,86%and 100%,respectively(P<0.0001).The total accuracy of T stage was 83.9%.In 53 MPR images, the diagnostic accuracy was increased from 71.7%to 84.9%by the combination of axial position and MPR images, the difference was statistically significant(P=0.0233).Conclusion Multi-slice spiral CT has good sensitivity and specificity in the local diagnosis of gallbladder cancer.Adding MPR images to axial CT data improves the accuracy.
