Analysis of monitoring results after one year in newly confirmed water source high iodine areas in Shaanxi Province
Objective To understand the implementation of water improvement and iodine reduction in newly identified high-iodine water source areas in Shaanxi Province,grasp the iodine nutrition level of key populations,and scientifically evaluate the effect of high-iodine prevention and control in newly identified high-iodine water source areas,so as to provide reference for the implementation of targeted prevention and control measures and intervention strategies.Methods According to the"Monitoring Plan for Areas with High Iodine Content in Water Sources"(2018 edition),63 administrative villages were selected as monitoring sites in areas with high iodine content in water sources in Shaanxi Province to detect the iodine content in drinking water.40 non-boarding children(half male and half female)and 20 pregnant women aged 8-10 years were selected from each monitoring site.B-ultrasound examination of thyroid,iodine of edible salt at home and urine iodine of children and pregnant women were conducted.Results A total of 190 water samples were collected,with a median iodine of 121.75 μg/L.Among 2 159 salt samples,the consumption rate of uniodized salt was 17.79%,and there was significant difference among residents in different counties(x2=722.85,P<0.001).The median urine iodine of 1 924 children was 314.06 μg/L.In 1 879 patients,the rate of goiter and nodule was 3.57%and 20.33%,respectively.The median urine iodine of 229 pregnant women was 240.08 μg/L.In 143 pregnant women,thyroid nodule was detected in 23 pregnant women,whose thyroid nodule rate was 16.08%.There were significant differences in urinary iodine median,goiter rate and thyroid nodule rate among children in different high iodine counties(H=371.65;x2=48.18,389.63,P<0.05),there were significant differences in median urinary iodine and thyroid nodule rate among pregnant women in different high-iodine counties(H=22.65,x2=12.35,P<0.05).Conclusion The implementation of water improvement and iodine reduction prevention and control measures in newly confirmed water source high iodine areas in Shaanxi Province is not sufficient,and the effectiveness of high iodine prevention and control is not satisfactory.Therefore,it is necessary to further strengthen the implementation of comprehensive prevention and control measures for high iodine hazards in newly confirmed water source high iodine areas,and effectively prevent and control the hazards of water source high iodine.
