Monitoring and analysis of iodine nutrition level among children aged 8 to 10 and pregnant women in Wanzhou District of Chongqing from 2018 to 2022
Objective To analyze the iodine nutrition level among children aged 8 to 10 and pregnant women in Wanzhou District of Chongqing from 2018 to 2022,so as to provide scientific basis for iodine supplement.Methods The township/street was selected from five directions(east,west,south,north and center)in Wanzhou District each year,and children aged 8 to 10 and pregnant women were selected from the township/street as monitoring subjects.Their household salt and urine samples were collected for iodine detection.The thyroid of children was measured by B-ultrasound in 2019 and 2021.Results From 2018 to 2022,a total of 1 545 children and pregnant women were monitored,including 1 040 children and 505 pregnant women.The median urinary iodine of children ranged from 193.9 to 294.9 μg/L.The median urinary iodine of pregrant wamen ranged from 151.8 to 202.8 μg/L in pregnant women.A total of 1 545 salt samples were tested from 2018 to 2022,and the consumption rate of qualified iodized salt were 91.0%,94.6%,99.0%,96.7%and 97.4%,respectively.A total of 414 children's thyroid were measured by B-ultrasound,and the rate of goiter was 1.7%.The volume of thyroid was positively correlated with urinary iodine(r=0.163,P<0.05)among children.Conclusion The iodine nutrition level among children aged 8 to 10 and pregnant women in Wanzhou District was generally appropriate from 2018 to 2022,the median urinary iodine of children was somewhat high in 2022,and more attention should be paid to the variation trend.It is necessary to avoid iodine excess while preventing iodine deficiency.
