Objective To understand the coverage situation and qualifications of iodine salt in Shinan District of Qingdao,master the knowledge,attitudes,and practice(KAP)of iodine deficiency disorders(IDD)among catering workers at this stage,so as to provide basis for taking targeted prevention and control measures and adjusting strategies scientifically.Methods Five districts were selected in Shinan District in 2023.In each district,four canteens of enterprises and public institutions,ten medium-sized restaurants and ten small restaurants were randomly selected,and 100 g edible salt were collected to determine the iodine content.Besides,the practitioners were randomly selected to carry out a questionnaire survey by the Questionnaire Star Platform.Results A total of 120 salt samples for catering units,the median content of iodine in salt was 25.10 mg,the coverage rate of iodized salt,the consumption rate of qualified iodized salt,the qualified rate of iodized salt were 77.50%,75.00%and 96.77%,the consumption rate of qualified iodized salt of enterprises and public institutions,medium-sized restaurants and small restaurants were 50.00%,80.00%and 80.00%.The general awareness rate of IDD in the catering unit was 86.33%.The differences in the KAP of IDD between the knowing and unknowing group were statistically different(P<0.05).Conclusion The coverage rate of iodized salt and the consumption rate of qualified iodized salt in the catering unit in Shinan District of Qingdao was low in 2023.It is necessary to further increase government multidepartmental coordination efforts,improve the regulatory mechanism of iodized salt,strengthen the health education of IDD prevention and control knowledge of catering workers and even the whole population,and enhance the consumption rate of qualified iodized salt in dining out of coastal areas.
