A Study on the Design and Application of a Framework for Interdisciplinary Thematic Learning Activities Based on Core Literacy
Interdisciplinary thematic learning is an integrated learning approach to develop students'core literacy in IT disciplines and realise the educational value. The core literacy of primary school IT subjects consists of information awareness, computational thinking, digital learning and innovation, and information social responsibility, among which,"digital learning and innovation"runs through the whole primary school IT core literacy development system, and is an important manifestation of the level of the other three core literacies. How to design interdisciplinary thematic learning activities to foster digital learning and innovation among primary school students is a real problem faced by frontline IT teachers.Based on a systematic model of activity theory, this study constructed a framework for interdisciplinary thematic learning activities D-OCROF,which contains five elements:activity goals, activity content, activity resources, activity organisation, and activity feedback;three rounds of iterative experiments were carried out to refine the framework using design-based research. On this basis,a quasi-experimental method was used to test the effectiveness of this framework in terms of digital learning and innovation ability, quality of work, and learning report. The findings show that D-OCROF,the interdisciplinary thematic learning activity framework constructed in this paper, significantly enhances the digital learning and innovation ability of primary school students.Eventually, from the three dimensions of digital learning environment creation, digital learning resource development, and diversified activity feedback design, pedagogical suggestions for developing interdisciplinary thematic learning activities in primary school IT courses are presented.
