The Age of Computing and Education Calculation:The Rational Limits and Transcendens of Computational Power in Schooling
The landscape order of the computational era makes people live in the"cave illusion",thus causing various educational problems such as the visibility of symbolic representations,self-exploitation under digital discipline, and the transfer of power through the"throw-and-release relationship".Technology is increasingly becoming an"autonomous reality",which in turn dominates human beings, and human life is becoming an abstraction regulated by computational technology, and"computation"is thus becoming a kind of"power".Computing has become a form of"power".The power of computation makes people obsessed with mediocre excellence defined by explicit indicators such as performance scores and the expectation of success as compensation for the previous investment in education, ultimately leading to"education calculation".Calculated education places human bodily behaviour and ways of thinking in the context of precise and efficient formalised logical rules, and they are reduced to"people in a trap"in the control of power exerted on the subject of life by computational technology, which represents the rational limits of calculated power and the potential for disciplining.Calculation is both an unjust glimpse of the Other(the artefact)into the human and a form of spiritual discipline.Calculation is an objective means of intelligent prediction and assessment using data analysis, and the nature of education and the genus of the subject of education predetermine that calculation cannot be value-neutral,which leads to the risk of"calculation"technology falling into"calculation"due to irrational use by human beings. In the era of computing, education needs to re-examine the rational limit of the power of computing, and return to computing from calculating, and return to the life power of individual educators from the disciplinary power of computing technology,so as to realize the transcendence of Computational Power.
