Electromagnetic Radiation Characteristics of Overhead Distribution Line Fault Arc and Their Fault Location Application
It is difficult to locate the single-phase arc grounding fault of overhead distribution lines accurately. In this paper, the electromagnetic radiation characteristics of overhead distribution line arc fault are studied, and the feasibility of arc fault location method based on electromagnetic radiation signals is investigated.Through the test platform for real type fault simulation of 10kV distribution network, the time domain and frequency domain characteristics as well as propagation attenuation law of electromagnetic radiation from grounding arc are analyzed. It is indicated that the electromagnetic radiation characteristic frequency range of arc current is 20~30 MHz,which is not affected by neutral grounding mode, arc grounding medium and distribution line parameters significantly. The radiation signals within the characteristic frequency range attenuate slowly in propagation.Accordingly,a miniaturized triangular monopole-loop combined planar antenna with a bandwidth of 20~500 MHz is designed.A miniature arc fault location experiment is carried out utilizing the designed antenna, which provides a basis for subsequent research on the practical application of arc fault location in distribution network.
