Overview on the Characteristics of Power Frequency Arc in Transformer Oil and Transformer Explosion Protection
Transformer internal short circuit arc fault is one of the most serious transformer failures, which is very likely to cause the deformation of transformer tank, leakage of transformer oil,and even fire. The study of power-frequency arc characteristics and transformer explosion-proof technology is essential to ensure the operational safety of the power system and the safety of human life and property. This paper summarizes existing testing techniques for power-frequency arc in oil, including the capacitive-inductive resonance method, the transformer(generator)short-circuit method, and other equivalent methods. The arc characteristics of voltage, current, bubble temperature, gas production, pressure, and spectrum are summarized. The simulation models of tank pressure of arc faults are also summarized, and the advantages and disadvantages of each model are analyzed.Existing transformer explosion-proof principles and techniques are discussed.Based on the review, the urgent research priorities are further explored, which are of great significance for the in-depth study on the characteristics of the arc in oil, pressure simulation model, transformer explosion mechanism and protection.
