Transient Overvoltage Mechanism and Suppression Measures of Hybrid Cascade Multi Terminal HVDC
Hybrid cascade multiterminal HVDC adopts a new structure of line commutated converter(LCC)and modular multilevel converter(MMC)hybrid cascade, which provides a new mode for energy transmission of long distance, large capacity and multiple access points in China, but the interaction between LCC and MMC also brings new problems. This paper reveals the mechanism of the transient overvoltage of hybrid cascade multi terminal HVDC caused by AC voltage recovery characteristics in the receiver scenario, evaluates the risk of MMC blocking caused by transient overvoltage, and then proposes transient overvoltage suppression measures such as power reduction operation, improving the phase shifting strategy of the transmitter and increasing the transmission limit of active power of MMC from two aspects of the sending and receiving end. Finally, based on the electromechanical electromagnetic hybrid simulation software PSD-PSModel,the electromechanical transient model of the AC power grids and the electromagnetic transient model of the hybrid cascade multi terminal HVDC are built in this paper. The accuracy of the theoretical analysis and the effectiveness of the suppression measures are verified by simulation.
